I was recently chatting to a high level coach, and he was talking about the amount of time that he was now spending dealing with parents of players, who would often be explaining why their child couldn't train, or wasn't playing so well ....etc

It got me thinking.

Mike Krzyzewski is a famous former basketball coach in the USA. He both played and coached the sport. He served as the head coach at Duke University from 1980 to 2022, winning many titles, along with coaching the USA team. He's now 77 years old.

With the above in mind, the following quote from Krzyzewski has context. “You look each other in the eye and tell each other the truth. People do not talk to each other hard enough. Especially parents. Parents overall are not as tough on their kids as they should be and don’t allow people to be tough ( on them). Teachers, coaches. You hold people accountable and tell them the truth.”

With all the different coaching methodologies and ideologies out there nowadays, perhaps the truth is still the best one.
