When there's doubt, Focus Out

I recently listened to a podcast about a program based on Navy SEAL underwater survival techniques. When the guest was asked to summarise what they taught participants in the program, they said:

"If there's doubt, focus out."

I can imagine that if you were trapped underwater in the sea, the first thing you would do is panic. According to experts, once panic sets in, it's game over.

By focusing your mind outward, you can stay calmer and increase your chances of survival.

So, when you find yourself in a pressure situation, or are feeling nervous, or the legs feel like they're gone early in a game, focus on your team or even better something else outside of the game.
